Coarsegold, CA – Flooding in the foothills and
lower Valley flood plains has resulted in thousands of residents being left
without power, no access to clean drinking water, and limited food storage and
cooking capabilities. Chukchansi Gold Resort & Casino is helping to
bring relief to foothill residents by offering dining discounts at the
property, plus donating bottled water, and being designated as a stand-by
shelter in case of overflow.
Chukchansi will donate 1,000
cases of bottled water to the Oakhurst
Center, the primary relief station that is
available for foothill residents now. Deann Kamalani, Director of Player
Development at Chukchansi Gold said, “We’re all one big family here in the
foothills, and Chukchansi is fortunate to have the facilities and resources to
help our neighbors during this time.” Chukchansi Gold also has been designated
as a stand-by shelter in case the Oakhurst
Center becomes full.

The Madera County Sherriff’s
Office of Emergency Services is preparing for severe weather impacts in the
foothills, and they encourage residents to stay informed by listening to the
radio for emergency weather alerts, and be ready to move quickly should
flooding become an issue in their area. The Oakhurst Senior
Community Center is
available now to anyone who needs food, shelter or other relief services.
